More Information

Reports from other Ecology monitoring efforts involving toxic contaminants and other parameters are available through Ecology's Environmental Assessment Program Publications page and are categorized by year or categorized by watershed.

Additional information about the management of toxic contaminants in Washington's environment can be found within Ecology's Toxic Cleanup Program, Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Program, Solid Waste Program, Air Quality Program, and Nuclear Waste Program.  Toxic contaminants are also addressed in other Washington State agencies such as Departments of Agriculture, Health, Fish and Wildlife, and Natural Resources.

The regulatory authority that guides Ecology and other agencies working with toxic contaminants comes from state and federal laws. These include: the State of Washington Water Quality Standards, the Federal Water Quality Standards - National Toxics Rule (Reference 40 CFR 131.36), the State of Washington Groundwater Standards, and the State of Washington Sediment Management Standards.

Toxic contamination of the environment and consequences for human health continues to be a national and global concern. Information about other work with toxic contaminants can be found at various websites from government agencies, industry, and the private sector.
