Fish and Shellfish Consumption Advice

Washington's Department of Health and 34 local health jurisdictions are responsible for informing citizens of the possible health hazards from eating fish and shellfish that are contaminated with toxic chemicals.

The Department of Health uses data collected from its own studies or studies done in cooperation with other agencies and institutions to determine whether fish or shellfish consumption advisories are needed.

See the Department of Health's website for more information about the health benefits of fish and ways to reduce risks from toxic chemicals.
