The Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Program will hold training in 2009 on dangerous waste management for generators.
The training will use a new, shorter format – combining recorded presentations and in-house expertise. This format will reduce the time and costs needed for the training, and allow more flexibility in scheduling.
Ecology staff will host the sessions at or near the Regional Offices in Lacey, Bellevue, Yakima and Spokane. The schedule of sessions has not yet been decided. It may be later than the previous January-February times.
Planned topics:
The training will not cover Dangerous Waste Annual Reporting. (For information on the Annual Report, go to: www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/hwtr/waste-report/index.html or call the Annual Reporting Unit at 1-800-874-2022 (within Washington) or 360-407-6170.)
The Dangerous Waste regulations require generators to train their employees specifically about their facility. The generalized training provided by Ecology does not provide all the training required, nor did it previously.
