The National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) Exit Ecology is a non-governmental, non-profit organization established by the Congress to "serve the public interest by promoting a more rational regulatory environment for the building community, by facilitating the introduction of new and innovative technology, and disseminating nationally recognized technical information". The Resilient Floor Covering Institute, U.S.A. Exit Ecology has developed an internet publication, Recommended Work Procedures for Resilient Floor Coverings. Member companies are manufacturers of floor coverings that may contain some asbestos; sheet vinyl, vinyl asbestos tile and asphalt tile. KELLCO Services, Inc Exit Ecology provides hazardous materials and engineering consulting and laboratory services. Their website includes a reference section for asbestos and lead information. It includes definitions of asbestos and lead abatement terms. There is also a how-to section for taking lead and asbestos samples to be mailed to the Kellco laboratory in Hayward, California.
