Solid waste is any waste that is not a product. Dangerous wastes, construction and demolition wastes, land clearing wastes, industrial wastes, sewage and garbage are all examples of solid waste. Most solid wastes are not dangerous wastes.
Dangerous waste that is regulated as Household Hazardous Waste or as Small Quantity Generator (SQG) Waste is managed by local government - usually health and solid waste or public works departments. The Department of Ecology's Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Program provides assistance and coordination.
Household Hazardous Waste and Small Quantity Generator Waste are collectively referred to as Moderate Risk Waste.
