Local Lead Regulations and Guidance

Before starting a construction, renovation or demolition project, first contact the county building planning or permitting authority for local regulatory information.

Local government - usually health, solid waste, or public works departments, manages lead paint in Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) or in Small Quantity Generator (SQG) Waste. HHW and SQG waste are collectively referred to as Moderate Risk Waste.

The Department of Ecology's Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Program provides assistance and coordination to local government.
