Hazardous Waste Generation FeeState law requires all businesses that generate any amount of hazardous or dangerous waste to pay the Hazardous Waste Generation Fee (Generation Fee). The current $46 fee funds waste reduction activities like workshops, phone consultation services, literature on pollution prevention and technical assistances visits. Businesses will receive this billing during the first week of June. Important: The Hazardous Waste Generation Fee that your company has received is not a new fee. For many years it has been called the Hazardous Waste “Education” Fee. The use of the name has created some confusion over the years. In an effort to resolve the confusion we are now calling the fee by its literal name, Hazardous Waste Generation Fee. Notice: Payments must be postmarked by September 30, 2009.Your business received this bill because of the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code it was assigned. The NAICS code your business was assigned is associated with business activities known to produce dangerous waste.
