Delinquent 2009 Hazardous Waste Generation Fee

Businesses that have NOT paid their 2009 Hazardous Waste Generation Fees will get a third chance to do so.  A third invoice is being sent to these businesses in June 2011. 

They have until June 30, 2011 to make payment or request a waiver or exemption.

If they feel they should not be required to pay the fee, they must request a waiver or exemption before the June 30, 2011 due date. Request for Fee Waiver

Failure to make payment or request a waiver by June 30, 2011, will result in Ecology forwarding your account to collections.

Please Note:

The $46 fee is now $52.00 because of interest added to the accounts per the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 70.95E.050 and 43.17.240.

We are obligated to forward unpaid accounts to a collection agency per RCW 19.16.500(1) (b) .  Collection-related costs of up to 50% of the original fee ($23.00) can be added to the account to settle the fee.

2009 Fee Payment Schedule:

June 1, 2010 – First invoice mailed to businesses.
Sept. 7, 2010 – Second invoice mailed to delinquent businesses.
June 01, 2011 – Third invoice (plus interest) mailed to delinquent businesses.
July 1, 2011 – Remaining delinquent businesses sent to collections.
