Guidance for Used Oil, Recycling, and Treatment, Storage, & Disposal (TSD) Facilities

All facilities need to plan for the time when they will close. Used oil processors, recycling facilities, and TSDs must prepare closure plans, develop cost-estimates, and provide financial assurance to cover the cost of closure. Liability insurance is also required. Some generators and transporters must follow certain closure requirements, although they are not required to write a closure plan in advance. The following publications were created to provide guidance on how to meet these requirements. You should also consult with a regional hazardous waste compliance specialist.
