Pollution Prevention (P2) Planning Workshop
4 & 5 June
The Department of Ecology will be offering two
identical interactive workshops on June 4th and
5th. The workshops are designed to provide in
depth pollution prevention illustrations and their
relationship to the new electronic pollution
prevention planning documents. The format for
the workshop will endeavor to explain the P2
planning process through examples, while
simultaneously demonstrating the new electronic
planning format.
Beginning this year
Pollution Prevention Planners will have the option to submit Plans and Annual
Progress Reports electronically. Toxics reduction technical assistance staff
have developed electronic forms in Microsoft Word
2002 that will allow planners to
complete their plans and APR's on their own computer.
The new guidance manual, which will be available in both
electronic and hard copy formats, drastically reduces the number of plan pages
compared to the previous worksheet format. It also combines and integrates the
P2 planning and Annual Progress Report
manuals into one document. The new manual will provide guidance for a complete
process-oriented five year view of data, helping planning facilities to find and
implement opportunities in a systematic fashion, increase sustainability
options, and make advances in pollution prevention techniques.
The new guidance will be available to
planners this spring. Currently all P2 Planners will be receiving a copy
of the new electronic planning document toward the end of May, 2003; prior to
the workshops. Feel
free to bring your laptop to the workshop, (we will try to provide enough electrical outlets to all
that request it) and
begin working on your new or updated plans and/or your annual progress reports.
This new electronic planning format will only work with Microsoft Word 2000
or later. If you have compatibility questions, please contact your
local regional office:
