Environmental Management System (EMS) Alternative Reporting Process
The Ecology publication, Environmental Management
System (EMS) Alternative to Pollution Prevention Planning, Pub. #97-401, February, 1997, which is
available for download as a PDF document, describes how a planning facility can apply for the EMS alternative
and the criteria for remaining in the program once a system is approved. A number of facilities in the state
have been approved to use this alternative, which recognizes that an EMS can prevent pollution.
