Pollution Prevention Resources by Industry Type

The World Wide Web contains many sites that focus on pollution prevention. A list of links to some of these sites is available on the HWTR website. A good place to start is EPA's "Pollution Prevention": Recommended EPA Web pages site, which has an excellent selection of web sites dealing with pollution prevention and related topics, such as recycling, energy conservation, sustainable development, etc.
HWTR Technical Assistance Services
The Hazardous Waste Reduction Act funds technical assistance services to affected facilities. HWTR staff provide businesses with advice and consultation on waste reduction and hazardous substance use reduction techniques. Technical assistance specialists help prepare or modify pollution prevention plans, executive summaries, and annual progress reports and provide technical assistance to carry out the plans.
Many pollution prevention techniques are common to industrial processes and industrial sectors, and Ecology staff are in a unique position to share this information to the benefit of the facilities. Technical assistance can include on-site visits, phone consultations and workshops. An increased emphasis on technical assistance is being accomplished through industry sector studies, single industry campaigns and integrated site visits. If you would like assistance from one of Ecology's staff specialists, contact the Ecology office nearest you and ask for a Toxics Reduction specialist.
Technical Resources for Engineering Efficiency (TREE) Team
This service teams Ecology toxics reduction engineers with businesses for an in-depth look at free or low-cost techniques to reduce waste and save money. You can visit the
