The Washington State Department of Ecology, Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Program provides free access to documents which have been converted into Portable Document Files (PDF) for easy electronic viewing and printing.

To view these documents you must use Adobe Acrobat Reader software that can be downloaded FREE from Adobe's download page. Since Acrobat is independent of platforms, and applications, you will be able to instantly access these or any PDF files on the Web.

Like other viewers and plug-ins to your internet browser, once you have installed Acrobat Reader, it will automatically be used to view any file with the PDF extention. The only confusing part for some people is how to install the viewer.

Here are the steps:

1) Print these instructions. You may want to refer to them later, when this page is not available for reference.

2) Jump to Adobe's download page and follow the instructions to register and download Adobe Acrobat Reader installation files to your hard disk. (You should also find instructions like these from Adobe).

3) Close your browser and run (doubleclick) the ar505enu.exe file which you just downloaded. This executable will install itself to your hard drive and cause your browser to associate .pdf with Acrobat Reader.

4) You will be given the prompt to restart windows. Do so. When you return, start your browser, and return to our page (http://wa.gov/ecology/hwtr)
