What is generator status?

A dangerous waste generator is any person, by site, whose act or process produces dangerous waste or whose act first causes a dangerous waste to become subject to regulation.  Generator status depends on the amount of dangerous waste of a particular QEL generated or accumulated onsite each month.  Annual reporting, waste shipment manifesting, and management requirements are different for each generator status.

  • LQGs have the most stringent requirements.
  • MQGs have some reporting and manifesting requirements similar to LQGs.
  • SQG have the least stringent requirements.
  • No Waste Generated (XQG) is an annual reporting category for generators who did not generate any dangerous waste during the reporting year. Transporters and other non-waste generators should mark this box.
