Cleaning Hanford's groundwater key to protecting the river
The Washington Department of Ecology’s Nuclear Waste Program oversees groundwater cleanup at Hanford, along with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Considerable progress has been made over the past 25 years, but these efforts will need to continue for several more decades to remove the threat of future contamination to the Columbia River.
