Commercial Low-Level Radioactive Waste Permitting

The Department of Ecology is responsible for issuing permits for the disposal of the following types of radioactive waste at the commercial low-level radioactive waste disposal site operated by U.S. Ecology Inc. near Richland, Washington.

Low-level Radioactive Waste
For disposal of low-level radioactive waste generated within the Northwest Interstate Compact or the Rocky Mountain Compact only.

For disposal of naturally occurring and accelerator produced radioactive material wastes that meet the criteria established by the Washington State Department of Health.
