The WCC will not be accepting applications for 1-year positions until July 2010 for a start date of October 2010.

We offer an internship program within WCC, referred to as the WCC Individual Placement (IP) Program. Individual Placements work for natural resource departments throughout the state of Washington. They assist biologists, foresters and environmental educators. They often design restoration projects, recruit volunteers, or partake is very interesting environmental research and monitoring projects.

If you are self-motivated and capable of being a highly productive WCC member with minimal supervision, then this program is for you.

Benefits:

  • Living stipend equal to the current Washington state minimum wage rate-currently $8.55/hour.
  • $4,725.00 AmeriCorps Scholarship upon completion of the WCC program
  • Health Insurance Coverage
  • Formal training provided
  • 40 hours a week for 12 months
  • On the job training with a government agency or nonprofit organization in the natural resource field

Because of the technical nature of these positions, a college degree is preferred but not required. Applicants must be 18-25 years old. Applicants will need to provide their own transportation to work sites and provide for their own living arrangements.

Candidates accepting one of these positions will be committing to a full year of AmeriCorps service. Transfer to other WCC positions for IP Corps members will not be approved once the Corps member has accepted an individual placement position.

Individual Placement positions begin in October of every year.  Recruitment and hiring begin in July and end when all positions have been filled.
