Risk Mapping Assessment and Planning

The Department of Ecology is the RiskMAP coordinating agency assisting the Federal Agency Management Agency (FEMA) in the implementation of the RiskMAP concept in Washington.

The vision for the 4-step RiskMAP life cycle begins with 1). Identifying Risk, then 2). Assessing Risk, next 3).Communicating Risk, and finally 4). Mitigating Risk.

Purpose

To support  RiskMAP, Ecology provides documents and information to inform and educate stakeholders interested in flood hazard maps, tools, and information including:

  • RiskMAP vision, goals and objectives

  • RiskMAP focus of studies

  • Washington state projects

  • FEMA projects in Washington

  • Map Modernization to RiskMAP

  • Risk maps

  • RiskMAP contacts

RiskMAP delivers high quality data that increases public awareness and leads to action to reduce risk to life and property. RiskMAP builds on flood hazard data and maps produced during the Flood Map Modernization (Map Mod) program.
