Layers and Landslides Geology plays a role in landsliding on Puget Sound. This shallow landslide has stripped soil and vegetation from a high bluff in Kitsap County. Exposed soil shows sandy glacial outwash sediments lying above the denser, less permeable fine grained silts and clays (dark material on bottom portion of bluff.)
