Seattle to Everett Railroad, 1996-97

The mainline of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe, which runs along the beach from Seattle to Everett, was shut down for many days due to hundreds of separate slides that carried mud and debris over the tracks.

This is a major corridor for freight and container traffic and for AMTRAK. Commuter rail service is scheduled to begin on this route within two years.
Slide on railroad tracks.
