Ilwaco Shoreline Master Program: Comprehensive Update
Public Comment Requested - April 25, 2017 to May 25, 2017 at 5 p.m.
The Washington Department of Ecology seeks public comment on Ilwaco's proposed update to its Shoreline Master Program.
Ilwaco is located at the mouth of the Columbia River. The proposed shoreline program will guide construction and development along the city’s 8.2 miles of shorelines including the Columbia and Wallacut rivers, Black Lake and the Pacific Ocean. The proposed program would replace the city’s existing 1975 shoreline master program in its entirety and prioritizes water-oriented uses and development within the City’s shoreline areas; identifies potential restoration projects for future shoreline restoration efforts in a Restoration Plan; and, incorporates critical area regulations to ensure the protection of sensitive areas within shoreline jurisdiction.
Ecology will compare Ilwaco’s proposed program to the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Based on the comparison, Ecology will decide whether to:
