Montesano Shoreline Master Program: Comprehensive Update
Public Comment Requested - January 30, 2017 to March 1, 2017 at 5 p.m.
The Washington Department of Ecology seeks public comment on the City of Montesano’s proposed update to its Shoreline Master Program.
The proposed Shoreline Master Program would replace the city’s 1993 shoreline program in its entirety and would address uses and development along approximately 5 miles of freshwater shoreline including the Chehalis and Wynoochee rivers, Sylvia Creek and Sylvia Lake. The city’s new master program contains locally tailored shoreline policies, regulations, environment designations and administrative provisions. The updated SMP includes improved habitat protection and encourages restoration.
Ecology will compare Montesano’s proposed program to the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Based on the comparison, Ecology will decide whether to:
