Okanogan County Shoreline Master Program: Comprehensive Update

Public Comment is closed

We held public comment periods on Okanogan County’s proposed Shoreline Master Program (SMP) update. In order to ensure that all interested parties had a meaningful opportunity to review and comment on the Okanogan County SMP, we held a comment period from February 15, 2016 to March 18, 2016, and then a second comment period from April 11, 2016 to May 11, 2016.

Mail and email were used to notify those who had expressed prior interest and a news release was issued to encourage public participation and comment. We received multiple written comments focused on a variety of topics.

Next Steps: Our decision

We will compare Okanogan County’s proposed program to the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Based on the comparison, we will decide whether to:

  • Approve the program as is or with recommended changes, or
  • Send the proposed program back to Okanogan County with required changes to meet statutory and rule requirements. Recommended changes may also be included with the required changes.
