Rosalia Shoreline Master Program: Comprehensive Update

Public comment period is closed

The Washington Department of Ecology held a public comment period on the Town of Rosalia’s proposed comprehensive update to their Shoreline Master Program. The period for public comment was from June 15, 2016 to July 15, 2016. Ecology used mail and email to notify those who had expressed prior interest. Ecology also issued a news release to encourage public participation and comment. Ecology has received a single written comment. The comment is focused on archaeological and cultural resources.

Response to public comment

The Town of Rosalia responded to the public comments on August 29, 2016. Their response have be incorporated into the Public Comment Summary.

Next steps: Ecology's decision

Ecology will decide if the Town of Rosalia's proposed program to the requirements of the Shoreline Management Act and the Shoreline Master Program Guidelines. Ecology will decide whether to:

  • Approve the program as is or with recommended changes, or
  • Send the proposed program back to the town with required changes to meet statutory and rule requirements. Recommended changes may also be included with the required changes.
