SeaTac Shoreline Master Program: Comprehensive Update

On January 10, 2011, the Department of Ecology approved, with recommended changes, SeaTac’s Shoreline Master Program (SMP) comprehensive update. The comprehensive update revises the existing shoreline program, including the goals, policies, regulations, shoreline environment designations, and administrative procedures and definitions. This approval puts the final stamp on a significant effort that increases protection and restoration of habitat and water quality, provides more certainty for development, and improves public access and recreational opportunities.

Documents related to approval

Per WAC 173-26-120(7)(b)(i), the effective date of SeaTac’s shoreline program is February 4, 2011, the date that the Director received notice from the City’s acceptance of the recommended changes.

Paper copies of the above documents are available by contacting David Pater, Washington State Department of Ecology

Appeals

An interested party may file an appeal with the Growth Management Hearings Board. RCW 90.58.190(2)(a), as amended in 2010, identifies two different points to initiate the 60-day appeal period: 1) the date of Ecology’s notice of final action, and 2) the date the notice of final action is published under RCW 36.70A.290. Any disputes related to the appeal timeframe will be addressed by the Board as part of the appeal.
