Internship Program

We offer an Internship program within WCC, referred to as WCC Individual Placements (IPs) Program. Individual Placements work for natural resource departments throughout the state of Washington. They assist biologists, foresters and environmental educators. They often design restoration projects, recruit volunteers, or create environmental education projects for school aged children.

If you are self-motivated and capable of being a highly productive Corpsmember with minimal supervision, then our internship program is for you.

Benefits:

  • Current Washington state minimum wage rate
  • $4,725.00 AmeriCorps Scholarship upon completion of the WCC program
  • Health Insurance Coverage
  • Formal training provided
  • 36 hours a week for 11 or 12 months
  • On the job training with a state department or nonprofit organization in the natural resource field
  • Child care for eligible Corpsmembers
  • Student loans may be placed in forbearance during term of service. (Interest that accrues on qualified loan(s) during term of service will be paid for members who successfully complete their service term).
  • See our Crew Member page for further details about the WCC program and benefits.

Because of the technical nature of these positions, a college degree is preferred but not required. Applicants must be 18-25 years old. Applicants will need to provide their own transportation to work sites and provide for their own living arrangements.

Candidates accepting one of these positions will be committing to a full year of AmeriCorps service. Transfer to other WCC positions for IP Corpsmembers will not be approved once the Corpsmember has accepted an intern position.

Intern positions begin October of every year.
Recruitment and hiring begin in July.
