Bridge construction project

The Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) was established in 1983 to conserve, rehabilitate, and enhance the state’s natural and environmental resources while providing educational opportunities and meaningful work experiences for young adults (ages 18 to 25).

Partnerships have been created with local, state, and federal agencies to complete restoration, recreation, and other stewardship projects. The Washington Conservation Corps has existing partnerships with:

  • WA. Parks and Recreation
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
  • Lower Elwha Tribe
  • Olympic National Forest
  • Olympic National Park
  • Stilly-Snohomish Fisheries Enhancement Task Force
  • King County DNR
  • Mount Rainier National Park
  • U.S. Fish and Wildlife
  • Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA)

WCC currently has 20 full-time crews (125 Corpsmembers) working state-wide throughout the year. WCC is funded by our partnering organizations through fee-for-service but also receives state funding as well as a sizeable grant from the Corporation for National Community Service, better known as AmeriCorps. Crews come complete with a complement of basic hand tools, 6-pack pick-up, five crew members, and a working crew supervisor.

Any organizations interested in working with the Washington Conservation Corps should contact us. Options include a full-time crew for the year, crew time for specific projects by the week, or individual placements that would work directly within your organization.
