Ecology certifies Skagit County wetland mitigation bank

Ecology has approved wetland mitigation bank certification for the Skagit Environmental Bank, a privately owned, 400-acre wetland mitigation bank near Mount Vernon. Clear Valley Environmental Farm, the Sebastopol, Calif., company that will build and operate the bank, still needs state water quality certification from Ecology and a federal permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) before it can begin construction and operation of the site.

The bank is the second wetland mitigation bank to be certified in Skagit County. The first, certified in 2009, was the Nookachamps Wetland Mitigation Bank located within the city of Mount Vernon. (Read the complete Ecology News Release dated May 31, 2011.)
