Ecology certifies Clark County wetland mitigation bank
Ecology has certified the construction and operation of the
East Fork Lewis Wetland Mitigation Bank, a privately owned,
113-acre wetland mitigation bank near La Center in Clark County.
East Fork Lewis Mitigation Partners, the company that will build
and operate the bank, will permanently protect the property
through a conservation easement. The firm will re-establish and
enhance existing wetlands as well as upland habitat areas at the

Ecology certifies Skagit County wetland mitigation bank
Ecology has approved wetland mitigation bank certification for
the
Skagit Environmental Bank, a privately owned, 400-acre
wetland mitigation bank near Mount Vernon. Clear Valley
Environmental Farm, the Sebastopol, Calif., company that will
build and operate the bank, still needs state water quality
certification from Ecology and a federal permit from the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) before it can begin construction
and operation of the site.
The bank is the second wetland
mitigation bank to be certified in Skagit County. The first,
certified in 2009, was the
Nookachamps Wetland Mitigation Bank
located within the city of Mount Vernon. (Read the complete

Joint Public Notice: Proposal for a Wetland Mitigation Bank in
Lewis and Thurston Counties
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) and Washington
Department of Ecology (Ecology) are considering a proposal to
establish the Chehalis Basin Mitigation Bank. The Joint Public
Notice was posted January 6, 2011 and will expire on February 5,
2011.
Womble Carlyle Ecology Innovations, LLC is the applicant for the
multi-site mitigation bank located throughout west-central Lewis
County and South Thurston County, Washington. The proposal
currently involves two sites totaling approximately 300 acres.
Additional sites may be added in the future as amendments to the
approved MBI. The Corps and Ecology are soliciting comments from
interested parties in order to identify project aspects that
need to be addressed during the bank review process.
