Washington's dragonflies come in just about every color of the rainbow.
Common species are black, brown, blue, green, red, orange, yellow, white or
gray, in various shades and combinations. The term "dragonfly" often includes
damselflies (spreadwings, pond damsels, jewelwings) and dragonflies proper (petaltails,
darners, clubtails, spiketails, cruisers, emeralds, and skimmers). They are all
extremely active and fun to watch as they dance around freshwater wetlands.
