Photo Gallery: Port Angles Landfill Mystery Oil Release

These photos were taken by Doug Stolz, Department of Ecology, in Port Angeles on October 12, 2007. Click on the images to see an enlarged view.

Shows Ecology spill responder John Hanson and an engineering contractor inspecting the sight for residual oil after excavation/restoration work that went into the early morning hours on October 12.
Shows the release area after excavation of 170 yards of contaminated soils and replacement with “toe anchor” rock. The area was left open to allow for recovery of any residual oil that may float to the surface of the water table. It will be covered when completely clean.
