Hood Canal Geographic Response Plan (HC-GRP)
The existing planning area covered by the joint Admiralty Inlet/Hood Canal GRP will now be divided into a separate planning area just for Hood Canal (HC-GRP). The existing Hood Canal planning area covers 704 square miles and is bounded the Hood Canal Bridge to the north, Quilcene to the west, Seabeck to the east, and Belfair to the south. The area contains portions of Water Resource Inventory Areas 14, 15, 16, and 17. Spill risks include military and recreational vessel traffic; 41 miles of Navy-and BNSF-owned and operated rail; Naval Base Kitsap Bangor facility; and many miles of roadways and state highways. The HC-GRP was last updated in March 2003.
