Marine GRPs
Washington's marine waters are divided into nine GRP regions. For each regional plan under comprehensive review, there will be a 30-day public comment period.
GRPs are triggered in the first hours following an oil spill and are targeted at shielding sensitive resources that lie close to the reported spill source. They are used during the initial response phase while additional data and equipment are being assembled and brought to bear. For additional background on how to evaluate GRPs, please look at our Workshops page.
Following a review of public comments on the Outer Coast and Strait GRPs by Trustees, the United States Coast Guard, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Ecology have posted the Responsiveness Summaries for many GRPs in the table below.
Inland GRPs
The 30-day public comment period for the draft Chapter 4 for the lower Snohomish River basin (WRIA 7) expired on October 22, 2007. The GRP was finalized in August 2008, after public comments were evaluated and the document was revised accordingly.
