Outer Coast

The comment period for the Outer Coast and Strait GRPs closed on March 21, 2008.  The final revised Chapter 4 of the Outer Coast GRP is now available, as of August 25, 2008. 

The latest (2008) version includes 48 strategies compared to 28 in the previous (2003) version.  Our responses to public comments are also posted.

Other sections, including introductory pages, Chapters 1-3, and the Appendices of the Outer Coast GRP were last updated with a version date of March 2003.

Descriptive and Organizational Changes in the Latest (2008) Version of Chapter 4

The updates include improvements in the GRP strategy descriptions, maps, tables and many other elements. Examples of enhancements include:

• Overview maps for sites, boat launches, spill origin points. 

• Matrix data includes map reference page numbers.

• Acknowledgment of need for fast water boom.

• 2-page treatments - show photos, anchor points, recommended equipment and personnel list, etc.

• Contact information - safety notes - driving directions.

• Improved priority tables (with logistics considerations for Outer Coast), and specific page numbers for maps, and detailed 2-page treatments.

• Boat launch overview maps and detailed descriptions.

• Staging areas - the Outer Coast logistics project was used as a resource.

• Hyperlinks to oblique shore land photos

• Greater emphasis on priority of source control and initial containment

• Acknowledgement to adjust strategies based on real-time conditions, including establishment of "CALL" and "STAGE" categories.
