South Puget Sound

Chapter 4 of the South Puget Sound GRP was updated in November 2007.  Some of the sites in Table 4-1 were updated in order to correspond with changes to the recently revised Central Puget Sound GRP.

The most recent version of the South Puget Sound Introductory pages, Chapters 1-3, and its Appendices is March 2003. That version includes new strategy maps produced in ArcView that are based on a new page-grid. There is no overlap between pages with the new page-grid.

Other Changes in the 2003 Version

The strategy numbering has been changed in the new version, and the prefix has been changed from SP to SPS. The strategies are the same as the January 2001 version, with two exceptions. Old strategy number SP-9 has been split into two strategies, SPS-23 and 24, and SP-15c has been deleted. The matrices have not been changed from the last version, other than the two changes listed above.

The booming strategy priority tables have also been updated, and were produced using a new process. The new process uses specific “Potential Spill Origin” sites, and prioritizes deployment of strategies based on trajectory modeling that predicts how long it will take for the oil to impact sensitive resources. Priority of strategy deployment is also based on relative sensitivity of the resources and strategy complexity. A separate priority table was produced for each Potential Spill Origin. When a spill occurs, strategies should be deployed using the priority table for the Potential Spill Origin closest to the actual spill origin.

The updated chapters are available below as Adobe Acrobat pdf files. A single file is available for users with a high-speed connection. For slower connections, two separate files are also available. GRP users with old versions should replace all pages in the introduction, Chapters 1-4, and Appendices with the March 2003 version.
