All funding for the oil spill response equipment grant has been allocated. Ecology will continue to accept applications should additional funding become available.
Seventy-five local government and tribal agencies will receive equipment caches and training as part of this grant. To date, 30 oil spill response trailers containing 25,000 feet of containment boom have been placed along the Puget Sound. More than 250 people have been trained to use the equipment as first responders.
Equipment will continue to be pre-stage along the Puget Sound, as well as initiating deliveries to Central and Eastern Washington. Caches will be pre-staged at nearly 100 locations throughout Washington State by June 2007.
