
Are Incentives Available for Green Building in Washington State?As more people discover the many benefits of building green, more incentive programs will become available. There are several private and public sector efforts available now for both commercial and residential projects.
Permitting IncentivesGreen Track permitting - King County Department of Development and Environmental Services offers a dedicated "Green Track" for green building and low impact development (LID) projects. Free technical assistance services are also available for green builders. Tax Incentives2005 Energy Policy Act - Federal tax deductions may be available for building energy efficiency investments and improvements. Solar and Renewable Energy - There are several tax incentives available in Washington State for solar and renewable energy products, which can be incorporated into green buildings. Financial IncentivesBonneville Environmental Foundation - Grants for renewable energy projects. Puget Sound Energy - Rebates for energy efficiency improvements for your home or business.
