Specialty Minerals, CamasLocation & HistoryThe Specialty Minerals, Inc. plant in Camas manufactures precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). This is produced by reacting carbon dioxide from the Georgia Pacific pulp and paper mill with calcium hydroxide. Wastewater is discharged to the Georgia Pacific mill's wastewater treatment system. The wastewater is then discharged to the Columbia River through Georgia Pacific's outfall 001. Capacity The plant produces about 75,000 tons of PCC each year.
