Location & History
The U.S. Oil refinery was constructed on the Tacoma tideflats in 1957 from units of an old Spokane,
Washington topping refinery and consists of two parts: the refinery and tank farm, and the Marine
Terminal. All process water at the refinery site is discharged to the Blair Waterway which is a part
of Commencement Bay.
Capacities:
Crude oil processing – 39,000 barrels per day
In the year 2005, an average of 9,000 barrels per stream day of crude oil were processed.

- Emulsified and road asphalt
