Simpson Tacoma Kraft Company, LLCLocation & HistorySimpson Tacoma Kraft, a subsidiary of Simpson Paper Company, was originally built in 1928 by the Union Bag Company. It is an integrated pulp and paper mill located on a peninsula bordered by the mouth of the Puyallup River on the northeast, Inner Commencement Bay on the northwest, and the St. Paul Waterway on the southwest. It discharges treated wastewater into Inner Commencement Bay. The mill is working toward sustainability. Activities include:
Employing approximately 400 people, the mill produces about 1300 tons of bleached and unbleached packaging-grade paper and unbleached kraft pulp each day.
