Pulp and Paper Facilities - Weyerhaeuser Cosmopolis

 
Location & History

The mill produces chemical pulp by magnesium based sulfite process. The mill sells the chemical pulp to other industries to make such items as tooth brush's handles, cigarettes filters, screwdriver's handles and absorbance material. The mill is located along the Chehalis River in Cosmopolis, Washington. The process wastewater treatment facility's discharge point is located in the South Channel of Grays Harbor Estuary, about 100 feet west of the eastern end of Rennie Island. Stormwater, filter backwash, and freshwater overflow are discharged into the Chehalis River close to the mill.

Capacities:

The existing mill is capable of producing 500 tons of pulp per operating day. In the year 2001 130,000 tons of pulp were produced
