Rule Development - Children’s Safe Products Reporting Rule

Ecology adopted final rules for the reporting requirements created by the Children’s Safe Products Act (Chapter 70.240 RCW) in July 2011.

Previously, Ecology conducted a pilot rule process and convened an advisory group to develop this rule.

Public Involvement

Ecology will inform the public about this rule process to meet public involvement requirements of the Administrative Procedures Act (Chapter 34.05 RCW) in the following ways:

• Web Site. Ecology will regularly update this rule development page with information on rule activities, including how to comment on the proposed rule.
  
• Email Notices (ListServ). Ecology created an electronic mailing list to email information and notices to persons interested in this process. Ecology encourages interested persons to sign up.
  

Rule moratorium

Gov. Chris Gregoire issued a suspension of agency rulemaking in November 2010. The Children's Safe Product Rule was not one of the rules suspended and was allowed to proceed under the exemption criteria established by the Governor.
