Advisory Group Process

Advisory Group Purpose

This will be a working advisory group. The role of the advisory group is to make suggestions and provide input to Ecology regarding issues created by the reporting requirements in Chapter 70.240 RCW (Children’s Safe Products). We want to create an effective and sensible rule to implement the law. This is not the correct forum to discuss the merits of the law, though we may end up with suggested improvements.

September 23, 2009	Members final written position statements due, written comments can be supplemented with meetings and or conference calls as desired by advisory group members (DONE)
September 30, 2009	Final written position statements posted on the web for public review. (DONE 10/02/2009)
November 2, 2009	Close of public comment period for position statements
December, 2009	Ecology to release proposed rule for testing during pilot test phase
January, 2010	Close of comment period for proposed rule
February, 2010	Test rule released

Reporting Information during the Course of the Advisory Group Meeting Phase

Ecology will send information to interested parties and post information on its web site. Interested parties’ can sign up for the email list serve or visit the rule making web site for updates on the rule and CSPA implementation.

Upon Completion of the Advisory Group Meeting Phase

Once the advisory group phase is completed, Ecology will draft a pilot rule. Any entity willing to participate in the pilot-rule phase will have the option of commenting on the draft pilot-rule before the test phase begins.
