Each year the Solid Waste & Financial Assistance Program (SW&FAP) compiles an annual report of various solid waste activities in the state. Below you will find a link to each annual report.
Chapter I "Issues Facing Solid Waste" focuses on emerging issues in solid waste that SW&FAP will be dealing with in the coming year.
Chapter II "Partnering for the Environment" includes activities carrying out the Beyond Waste Plan, the status of county solid waste and hazardous waste plans, a summary of the Coordinated Prevention Grant (CPG) and Public Participation Grant (PPG) programs, work on various waste streams including some activities of local governments and public/private efforts, education and information sharing programs and a look at how "Ecology Walks Its Talk."
Chapter III "Solid Waste Handling Infrastructure" contains information on the solid waste infrastructure in the state, including maps showing the number of various types of solid waste facilities in the state and a brief discussion of what regulations govern those facilities.
Chapter IV "Statewide Litter Prevention and Cleanup Programs" provides information on litter programs including the Ecology Youth Corps (EYC), the Community Litter Cleanup Program (CLCP) and litter cleanup efforts by other state agencies including the Departments of Corrections, Natural Resources, and Transportation and the Parks and Recreation Commission.
Chapter V "Solid Waste Generation, Disposal, and Recycling in Washington State" includes data about the amount of solid waste generated by Washington citizens. The data includes the annual diversion and recycling amounts, and types and amounts of materials disposed annually. Movement of waste around the state and imported and exported amounts are included. Remaining disposal capacity as reported by the facilities is included.
Chapter VI "Moderate Risk Waste Management” includes the amounts of household hazardous waste (HHW), conditionally exempt small quantity generator (CESQG) waste and used oil reported annually. New waste streams that are of interested to the collection efforts are also identified.
