This page has useful data for those of you trying to approximate waste generation possibilities from a variety of sources. The one caveat is that this is old information published in 1992 with the sampling occuring in late 1990 and through 1991. Still, it may be better than nothing. We have included links to other known waste characterization studies.
The 1992 Washington State Waste Characterization Study is a 6 Volume Study of Washington's disposed waste stream. We have attempted to include everything in a table or chart for you to study or to download a file. All the downloadable files are in Excel 5.0
The study divided the State into three Waste Generation Areas: the Central Puget Sound Waste Generation Area, the Western Washington Waste Generation Area, and the Eastern Washington Waste Generation Area. A summary of the state is also available. The state summary is a compilation of all the waste generation areas and allows some camparison to a "state average" as well as comparisons between waste generation areas.
If you like to download all the 1992 Waste Characerization data click here (wastate.zip). This information was created in Excel 4.0 so you will want to update it to your version of Excel or convert it to the software you are using. The .zip file includes all Waste Generation area data and a statewide summary by sector.
The data is also available by Waste Generation Area and for the statewide summary by itself by clicking on the links below.
