Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) Reports
The MTCA Report is an update on what state agencies
and programs have accomplished using the Toxic Control Account
funds. It includes the amount of revenue generated during
the biennium from the Hazardous Substance Tax, cost recovery,
fines, and penalties, fees from the Voluntary Cleanup Program,
and from mixed waste fees.
The Department of Ecology is one of several state agencies that receive funds from the Toxics Control Accounts. We use these funds to help protect Washington State’s citizens and environment from the threats of toxic waste. We clean up contaminated sites, prevent pollution from getting into our environment, and manage hazardous waste. We help ensure that our beaches are safe and our drinking water is protected. By working together with local governments, we reduce toxics threats in our communities, spur economic development, and help our neighborhoods thrive.
