On January 15, 2013, Ecology announced the release of the finalized version of the Fish Consumption Rates Technical Support Document. Read Director Sturdevant’s transmittal letter.

Technical Review Meetings

The final technical review meeting on the Fish Consumption Rates Technical Support Document, Version 2 was held on November 27, 2012. Ecology convened these meetings to review and discuss specific technical questions raised during the public comment periods and the analyses Ecology undertook in response to those questions.

Public Comment Period

Ecology accepted comments on the updated draft of the Fish Consumption Rates (FCR) Technical Support Document through October 26, 2012. Although Ecology will not respond individually to comments, we will review and consider all comments received when finalizing the document. Ecology expects to finalize the document in late fall. The draft Fish Consumption Rate Technical Support Document, Version 1.0 was distributed for public comments in October, 2011.

Fish Consumption Rates Technical Support Document, Version 2

The updated draft of the Fish Consumption Technical Support Document was released in August 2012. Ecology accepted comments on the document through Oct. 26, 2012. Although Ecology will not respond individually to comments, we will review and consider all comments received when finalizing the document. Ecology expects to finalize the document in late fall.

Revised approach to Updating Fish Consumption Rates

In July 2012, Ecology director Ted Sturdevant announced a revised approach for updating the state’s fish consumption rates for water quality and cleaning up contaminated sediments. Read about the changes and see the updated timeline.

Fish Consumption Rates Technical Support Document, Version 1

In early October 2011, Ecology released a technical support document, which focuses on fish consumption in Washington and existing environmental and human health information. The draft document is called “Fish Consumption Rates Technical Support Document, A Review of Data and Information About Fish Consumption in Washington.”

Ecology accepted comments on this document until 5 p.m. on January 18, 2012.
