Chevron Tank Farm
A PUGET SOUND INITIATIVE site – Reaching the goal of a
healthy, sustainable Puget Sound now and forever
SITE DESCRIPTION
The site was a bulk fuel facility from about 1950 to 1988; it is currently vacant property. After the structures were taken down in 1988, Chevron collected
soil samples and installed groundwater monitoring wells. Results showed
gasoline, diesel, and oil contamination in soil and groundwater. Contamination
has also been found in marine sediments. Some cleanup has taken
place; however, more work remains to be done.
The Chevron cleanup is a part of the City’s Evergreen Park Expansion and
Shoreline Restoration Project. This project will include the construction of a
3,200-foot over-water boardwalk that
will increase public waterfront access in the City by fifty percent.
