Starting in 1999, a series of studies have looked at the extent of Tacoma Smelter Plume pollution. These studies cover King, Pierce, Thurston, and Kitsap counties, and include maps of pollution levels for both arsenic and lead. Follow the links on the map below to view the study results:

1999 Ecology and Public Health-Seattle & King County partner to begin studying the extent of contamination from the Tacoma Asarco Smelter
2001 Ecology and the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department partner to study contamination in Pierce County
2003 Thurston County Public Health and Social Services Department and Kitsap County Health Department join the Tacoma Smelter Plume studies
2004 Ecology names Asarco, Inc. as a potentially liable person for the Tacoma Smelter Plume contamination
