Eddon Boat Park
SITE DESCRIPTION
The Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) is working with the City
of Gig Harbor (the City) to clean up the Eddon Boat Park site. It will
then be developed as a public park. The site is a 0.95 acres lot located at 3711
and 3805 Harborview Drive in Gig Harbor. It consists of both the upland property
and the in-water areas that are contaminated
Site History
The Eddon Boat Park site was used as a residence, boatyard, and boathouse from
the 1940s until the City bought it in 2004. In 2004, voters approved a $3.5
million bond for the City to purchase the property. Between 2005 and 2007, the
City investigated soils, groundwater, and sediments at the site. This work was
supported by a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Brownfields grant and technical assistance from
Ecology’s Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP).
Currently, the City is working with Ecology’s formal cleanup program to
finishing planning site cleanup.
