Joseph Simon & Sons, Kent
SITE DESCRIPTION
The Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) proposes to remove
Joseph Simon & Sons Kent from the state’s Hazardous Sites List. The Joseph
Simon & Sons Kent site comprises most of a 6.2 acre property divided into two
lots located at 917 and 1025 South Central Avenue in Kent, Washington. The
Joseph Simon & Sons Kent site was farmland during the 1960s and was later
developed as automobile wrecking and metal scrap storage yards. These
operations continued until the 1980s.
Joseph Simon & Sons Kent site was cleaned up as part of the Voluntary Cleanup
Program (VCP). Under the VCP, property owners can independently clean up their own property to
meet the requirements of the Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA) with technical
assistance from Ecology.
